Here’s a recap of the contest:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodils.

– William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

As the days get slowly longer and warmer, other things change as well:  I put away my old warm (but dowdy) coat, plant flowers in the window boxes, and wait for my allergies to drive me nuts.  Wordsworth probably wrote better than anyone about the rejuvenation of the season we’re in and the great effect it has on the spirit but that shouldn’t stop the rest of us from expressing ourselves…and if we earn a few extra Opals for doing so – all the better.

We are pleased to announce a new Hotel iWin room decorating contest: “The Writes of Spring.”  For this round, we want your room submissions to be accompanied with a brief text (200 words or less should suffice) about spring .  We’re going to be easy breezy this time around – and give you the freedom to express yourselves.  It can be a memory, a very short story, a poem, or an observation out your kitchen window.  We just want words to accompany your spring themed room.

To be a contender you must:

Submit your room between the posting of the contest announcement on 03/31/2010 and 04/06/2010 at 11:59 p.m. PST.  User submissions outside of this time frame will not be eligible.

Please limit your submissions to one room per user. Multiple entries will result in disqualification.

To enter, simply go to The Contest Forum and Post Reply

Winners will be announced within 48 hours of the end of the contest within the above forum link.  Our budding and blooming judges (Wordsworth rudely failed to R.S.V.P. but was seen traipsing in a meadow somewhere) will review and rank the best submitted for how your original text complements your spring themed room – not Opals spent in its implementation.  Put your imagination to work, put your snow shovels away, and put a little spring in your step.
The winners will receive:

1st Prize: 3,000 Opals

2nd Prize: 1,500 Opals

3rd Prize: 750 Opals

Like Family Feud™?  Have friends?

Then you’ve got to run (don’t walk!) and check out Family Feud Facebook, our latest social game.

Family Feud, as you probably already know, is one of the world’s most beloved game shows. It’s tons of fun because you earn points by guessing the most popular response to a survey question posed to 100 Americans. Unlike other trivia games it judges you based on how well you know other people, not useless facts.

In Family Feud Facebook, you play at your own pace but then can enlist your friends and family to help you reach 200 points in the famed Fast Money round. By working together, you’ll earn “win-only” prizes, oodles of bonus points, and the utter admiration of everyone around you! The more you play, the more Feud Points you earn. And those Feud Points can unlock cool prize collections. Will you be the first one to unlock ‘em all?

But wait, there’s more! The game also allows you to share funny survey questions about yourself via your wall! You don’t want to know the answers I got when I posted, “Name something David likes to do when he should be working.”

The game is 100% free to check out and you get two free episodes every day. Please check it out and let us know what you think!

I was recently in one of the big box electronics retailers.  Before perusing the racks of Blu Ray dvd players and a digital camera display, I found their mission statement boldly laminated on the floor in the entry.  It stated their intention to be the traffic light at the corner of Innovation Avenue and Daily Grind Way.  I liked this because it suggested a mediation taking place, a dialogue between what we aspire to and the way things are in day to day life.  When I look through the assortment of casual games on iWin, I see something similar.

We can’t all execute runway fashion shows in the vein of “Jojo’s Fashion Show,” but we can (under severe time crunches) try to dress our children appropriately for school.  Might I grimly add that some of them can be every bit as fussy as Naomi Campbell is rumored to be on a very bad day.   We may not be able to have exotic getaways a la the “Jewel Quest” series, but I’m guessing we all know a thing or two in real life about matching three – socks that is.  What reductionist powers leave me with an odd number coming out of the dryer every time?  As for hidden object games, my life is a series of them, though totally devoid of the poise and charm of PJ Pride.  They should make a game about my life, scrambling around like a kook, looking for my keys.  Yes, I know all about hidden object games.

Art does imitate life and vice versa.  It’s a cyclical relationship.

So when I look at Hotel iWin, I’m curious:  Sure we select and decorate with items we wish we had, but do we sometimes create an environment of our real life, warts and all?  I think it’s time for a contest.

We are pleased to announce a new Hotel iWin room decorating contest: “How much does your room look like your Hotel room?” As suggested by the above musings, we want to see how much your Hotel Room looks like a room you’ve modeled it after.  The model room doesn’t need to be YOUR room, but the judges will need to be able to see your inspiration in order to qualify.

To be a contender you must:

Submit your room between the posting of the contest announcement on 03/24/2010 and 03/30/2010 at 11:59 p.m. PST.  User submissions outside of this time frame will not be eligible.

Please limit your submissions to one room per user. Multiple entries will result in disqualification.

IMPORTANT:  Using a picture frame available from the shops at Hotel iWin, upload a picture of the room your Hotel Room is modeled after and place this frame within your room submitted for contest entry, otherwise we won’t know what your actual room looks like.

To enter simply go to The Contest Forum and Post Reply to the thread of entries with the floor number and room name you are submitting for consideration.

Winners will be announced within 48 hours of the end of the contest.  Our secret judges (We’d love to get the two fellas from “The Muppets” if they’re interested) will review and rank the best submitted for reflecting an actual room – not Opals spent in its implementation. Keep it imaginative, keep it tasteful, and keep it real – even if the room yours is modeled after is not your own.
The winners will receive:

1st Prize: 3,000 Opals

2nd Prize: 1,500 Opals

3rd Prize: 750 Opals

For all rules and restrictions please see our Contest Rules

Update:  As this contest is now over we feel compelled to show off the stellar results of our very talented winners:

1st Place — TerriWilson – Kitchen reproduction on 18th floor

2nd Place — Cattjam – Bedroom reproduction on 10th floor

3rd Place — Trishilynn – Music Study reproduction on 3rd floor

Francesca  What is more exciting than a destination wedding? A destination wedding to Italy! Since moving to the United States 15 years ago, I have been asked to help MANY Americans plan their destination weddings in my home country of Italy.  So when I saw that this game was coming out on iWin.com, I was curious to see how the characters would plan a wedding in Italy.  After playing (relentlessly) for too long, here’s my synopsis:

This game will take you first to Florence and then to a real Tuscan villa close to Lucca.

Isabela is getting married and has hired you to create the perfect wedding. First, you will travel to Florence, settle down and enjoy some sightseeing.

Then, you will help her fiancé pick a one-of-a-kind engagement ring and decorate the location for the marriage proposal. It is a magical spot at the Boboli Garden, a stunning park right in the center of Florence. You will then travel to Isabela’s family villa and restore the villa to its former splendor while engaging in many fun puzzles and mini games as well as traditional hidden object scenes. I loved how the games had fun twists with Italian strangers helping or making trouble along the way.

You will even get the practice your Italian and make cappuccino!

The graphics of Dream Day Wedding: Bella Italia are beautiful and the creators have done a wonderful job recreating the magical light of Spring in Italy. I felt I was back home for a few hours.

This game is fun, engaging and creative. Travel with us to visit Bella Italia!  Enjoy!

To honor the Olympics and because we like to have fun, we have been playing a few Winter Olympic-inspired games right here at the iWin.com office. Between matches, we discovered that winter-themed games are favorites for most of us.

While we always welcome tropical beaches and exotic escapes, we love the cozy, reassuring feeling that comes from playing in the snow and relaxing in front a fireplace.

Being addicted to games, I immediately decided to find and play a winter-themed casual game on our site.

As soon as I hit iwin.com, my wish was granted thanks to the new release of Farm Frenzy 3 Ice age. I immediately fell in love with the graphics and the game.

What’s more, it turns out that iWin.com has plenty of games for the snow, ice and winter enthusiast.

After all this ice talk, I am now craving ice cream…so off to find some more games to play!

Coordination is nice. Even nicer, is when it looks good. Today, we bring you a bit of coordination – a couple bedroom sets that fit together quite nicely. While it’s fun to go crazy and fill your room with random doodads and whatsits, sometimes it’s nice to have a clean, organized place to rest your bones for the night.

Well, get to decorating, because these bones could sure use a rest!

We are so happy to announce that our long-awaited click management game, Mall-A-Palooza has arrived!  We have been toiling for months to bring you just the right mix of click management and shopping mall gloriousness, which will bring you hours of building fun.  Here is what our Executive Producer for the game, Peter Traugot, has to say:

The nice thing about building casual games is that every now and then, a small project being developed in the wings turns out to be so delightful, you can’t help but fall in love with it. That’s where I am with “Mall-A-Palooza”. After just 10 minutes with this game I’m sure you’ll love it too. Talk about engaging! Wow! It’s cute, it’s fast, it has some great little twists, and it’s a great challenge!

The characters are cute, the color is bright, the theme is engrossing and all around, and I just loved producing it. We spend a great deal of time not only keeping it simple and clean, but also hiding some really well balanced objectives.

Rarely do games just “come together”, in fact, its kind of an industry joke. But this one just worked out of the gate. Try it out, enjoy it, laugh when the burglar comes around (my favorite part.). And HEY! Keep those floors clean, would ya!
