First Week Friday!

Happy Friday!
I had quite an exciting first week here at iWin! So many new faces to meet, and such great games to learn and play. Personally I’ve been playing a lot of Jewel Quest II and I was also was drawn to Fairy Island. I love fairies, so the title jumped out at me as one that I had to try.

Taking the train to work was a new experience for me. It is far more relaxing than driving to work everyday. Not having to deal with traffic is a welcome change! Also Nathan has been great, I’m so thrilled to be working with him. I’ve been learning lots, though I feel bad since I’ve been constantly barraging him with questions. Questions mainly from you, the players!

I have to say that, not only the people I work with, but also the community of players at iWin is such a friendly group! I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of working with a nicer or more caring community before. Cheers to you for being so supportive of each other!

Well, we have quite a variety of new items for you today! The weekend’s just a few hours away, so why not celebrate the new spring weather with a nice day outside. Throw on your Camo Shorts, and grab a Tiki Mug from the Stainless Steel Refrigerator before heading outside to mow the newly growing grass with your Push Mower.

Here is what we have for you today:

ITEM CATEGORY
Camo Shorts (Female) Clothing Bottoms
Camouflage Shorts (Male) Clothing Bottoms
Peace Symbol Sticker Stickers
Tiki Mug Hobby
Push Mower Hobby
Dress Making Dummy Hobby
Stainless Steel Refrigerator Appliances

i would like to know more about your hotel, and how to make my person. i also would like to know if i have to pay to play?

Thanks for the lovely note, Anne….

It has been my pleasure…to have “met” you…and to have you working for the betterment of our online community.I know all of IWIN staffers work hard, trying to please us all…which, I am sure, can be very frustrating at times…

My ongoing problem with not earning opals…still exists, but I know y’all are working hard to correct the glitch…so that makes me very happy…

Enjoy this lovely weather…and have a wonderful weekend…I KNOW I will spend part of the weekend strolling along the beach…it the best stress reliever I have ever known..:-)

May the wind always stay at your back…

Hope your first weekend is a good one. I know when you took this job you stepped into a mess, what with all the bugs to be worked out. Hope it wasn’t too stressful. Have a good one. Glad to have met you. Keep up the good work. iWin is awesome.

A few things I wanted to discuss with you all outside of the main blog post. First and foremost we are still working on the bug where Opals are not showing up. The Opals bug *may* be related to the bug where players can not buy games. The fix for the ‘buying games bug’ is now set for early next week. Again, I hate to say specific dates because other issues may arise. But I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed.

One thing that would be extremely helpful to us is if you were able to take a screen shot of the purchase offer screen. If you don’t receive opals, quickly press the ‘Print Screen’ button on your keyboard when the purchase offer screen comes up. If you need more information on how to take a screen shot please go here.
You can then submit a help ticket at http://hotelsupport.iwin.com and attach the screen shot for us. Please make the subject line “Screen Shot” so they are easy to find. Since we are just collecting screen shots, these tickets will not be replied to.

Another question that came up recently was “How does the 4 hour log out work?” Well I got this question clarified, and it seems you only need to exit the game. You can leave the iWin Games Manager open, and logged in. You simply need to close whatever game you are playing at the 3 hour and 59 minute mark, and then re-open it to continue to earn opals.

  5. Posted March 20, 2009 at 5:49 pm | Permalink

Diane Patrick, The hotel is free to play! You just need to sign up for an account and you can start making your very own character. You can then earn opals by playing any of our games. Buy the game to earn DOUBLE opals!

Judith Ann and Jeannie, It was a pleasure to have “met” you both as well! We are trying our best to get the Opals issue fixed, thank you ever so much again for all your help and patience!

Will there b a post about the purchasing bug so that I don’t keep trying and keep getting frustrated. I have made it a habit to come here everyday and see what is new. I would really like a lizard of some kind and please don’t make him too expensive, I put in a suggestion for him but thought I would post here as well. Thanks for all the hard work keeping this wonderful site up and running.

    Hey Anne,

It’s me again…;-) I wanted to keep you updated…I did send a screen shot and ticket to CS…showing the screen shot…about not getting opals…My time frame for winning opals…seems to be from 11am to 6 pm…a MUCH shorter window than the 12 hr one IWIN put in place…It is quite annoying to keep losing out on opals…especially since i LOVE decorating my IWIN Hotel floors..I was playing House of Wonders/Babies come home…it does not seem to be the game, but more the time frame..since it happens no matter what game I am playing…!!..I understand Bess’s frustration over this problem…when we take the time to play your games, and are NOT rewarded for the game play.I have purchased all my games, so I get double opals…making it more frustrating…I am not sure if Bess has bought her games or not…It did sound like Bess may not come back to IWIN again…since she was sooooooooooooo very annoyed…I hope she sticks it out…but do understand if she does not…

Hope your weekend is a happy and a fun filled one…

    See ya Monday…

Hi again. Yes I’m still here. Just not fighting so hard anymore. I realized the “game ” is not that important. I come in, try the games & the only thing that has changed is there is no jiggleing anymore. Since the “window” has been found, there has not been an opal in bloom. I have made a few “friends” here & do get those 25 for visiting. There is no worry of getting opal rich there. Thank you Judith Ann. This has been a good place to vent. I’m sorry you are going through this also, but I check in every day to see if YOU have news. We have the same feelings apparently. Yes, my games are bought. And that Does make it more irritating. But we can’t do anything. I am so glad you were able to send the screen shot, I am at my daughters & her computer is alien to me, so I wasn’t able. Altho I did send one in a few weeks ago. I had talked to Nathan about it & that was his suggestion. It’s been that long. I have not heard from that. So frustration is pretty deep here. When I hear that people don’t want to send any more tickets, I understand that too. We get “Please don’t send more tickets”. That makes me feel I’m a bother! Add that to everything else & well you know….. Thank you iwin, Bess

Anne, I’m sorry if I sound like a grouch. I know it’s not your fault, nor Nathans. It was one of those things that happened to get screwed up just as things were looking good. You have tried so hard, & never said “I give” as I did. You have given us those updates & I’m sure run your legs off. Anne my respect for you has grown with each day you have come back. I have worked with the public. I know we can be hurtful & not mean to. Hope things are easier in the coming weeks. I’m sure you didn’t deserve what you stepped into. I just feel like my boyfriend won’t call. . See you tomorrow. Bess

    Hey Anne,

I guess anonymous wants us to “crack” his code to figure out what he/she is trying to say…;-) Yeah, you sure do need patience to do your job..Bless your heart…I am so happy Bess is coming back…I feel like we have bonded some over the shared frustrations on IWIN…I have had the same results for tbree days…I can win Opals from 11am to 6pm..I probably could go online sooner, but I do have things that have to get done…before I can play games…so 11am seems to be my time to start…6pm seems to be IWIN’s shutting down time for me…not sure why…NOT EVER NEVER 12 hrs…I DO NOT play during night time…I DO need my beauty sleep…;-)…soooooooo, I have a short window of time to accrue my opals…How does IWIN determined when you have been online 12 hrs???? maybe that is the problem…some kind of clock that counts in double time…since I win double opals…

Well, Anne…I HOPE you had a nice rest this weekend…I am sure your customers on IWIN will keep you hoping on Monday….and thru out the week…

Thanks for being there for us…and keeping us in the loop…

I was rearranging my 10th floor and one of my purchased items disappeared. What do I do to get it back? I already checked storage and it is not there. In case you are wondering, it was the coffee maker. One minute it was there and the next it wasn’t. This is not the first time it has happened and I was wondering if this is a common problem and if so, what do I do to fix it rather than have to go buy another one? This would be more frustrating if it was a big-ticket item. So I am hesitant to buy certain things with the fear it might disappear.

Hip hip hurray…I am so excited..IWIN thinks they fixed my opals problem…not earning them…They think I had a duel account..when I changed from a Gold member to Platinum member…somehow wires got crossed, and I wound up with two accounts…I sure hope that is the problem…I will let you know by this evening…by 8pm…usually by then, I am NOT able to earned any opals…

I am really thrilled..and delighted…Bess, maybe this is your problem too, since you buy your games, also…I hope so…my friend..;-)

Thanks to the IWIN support team…You ALL ROCK…BIG TIME…

Again, a humungous thank you….from me to all of you..

    It’s me again, Anne..The whiner..;-)

I just wanted to let you know.GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrr..the problem is NOT fixed…it is 6:30 pm..and I am getting the same screen…PLAY LONGER TO WIN OPALS…so I guess the big fix did not solve my ongoing problem..Maybe the problem does have something to do with how you track the 12hrs we are ONLY suppose to be playing…i KNOW I do not spend that amount of time…EVER..online…Even if I play all day…it is broken up…because of committments, chores and errands…I log off and on…many times during the morning..into the evening…

I did just submit ANOTHER ticket…I did not resend a screen shot…but it is the exact same screen…down to the same person…on the right hand side…who wins 25 opals…

Sooooooooooo, I am staying patient…and keeping my fingers crossed..that y’all get to the bottem of the problem…Hey Bess, we are still in the same boat..I feel like Bess and I are partners in crime..with all our blogging…complaining about the same problem…;-)

Well, Anne..Thanks for listening..AGAIN…;-) I really had high hopes my problems were over…in IWIN…I still love you guys…and your site…it does ROCK…with Hotel IWIN…Fabulous idea..it really keeps my interest HIGH…and my money flowing…to buy more games…I bought the new one posted today…Emerald City…Very cute, and highly interesting..I am having FUN with it…

    Again….Thanks for the shoulder…Have an enjoyable evening…

I was finally able to buy a game today. Jewel Quest Solitaire III in fact! Happy me :) . I don’t know if it was something you guys did, or it was ICoins problem. I didn’t have enough to buy it but figured it would roll the purchase over to my credit card as it had done in the past. Whatever! I guess I could check it out by trying to buy another game. I used to be able to buy additional icoins. Can I still? Anyway, I wish everyone luck in their opal problem. Thanks for the ear. IWIN rocks. Have a good day.

Hang in there folks! The publish we are hoping will fix the bugs has not been pushed live yet. It’s supposed to be early this week, but there are still some kinks to work out.

Our great QA team did find one issue that is easily solved by you, the players! The first time you download a game, and play it, there’s a good chance you may not earn opals. The quick and easy solution to this is when you first get a game is to close it and re-open it after the first play.

We will look into a true solution for this issue in the future. And this may only solve half of the “Opal Bugs” but I’m hoping this helps some people out there!

I truly understand how frustrating it is to not earn opals. And I thank you all for your continued patience! We are working hard behind the scenes to try and get this issue fixed for you.

Krazegirl, I will definitely make a post once the publish is made. And thank you for the suggestion of a lizard!

Krs, You can not sell items back to the store at this time. I do not know of any plans to change this in the future, but I will bring it up as a possible suggestion.

Anna, We have a great FAQ page at hotelsupport.iwin.com that answers questions just like the featured room one! And thank you for the BBQ suggestion. As for the missing items, you’ll need to submit a help ticket at hotelsupport.iwin.com. I’m very sorry to hear about your loss but I can not do direct CS support through the blog.

Judith Ann, Thank you very much for the screen shot. Yours is the only one I received! So it’s very much appreciated! I am truly sorry that both Bess and you are frustrated. You have both been so very helpful to me, and I want you to know I really appreciate how understanding you both have been.

Bess, I’m so glad, you’ve been a big help to me with the details you’ve provided. I wish there was a magic wand I could wave to fix this issue for you, but sadly it takes time. Hopefully the solution our QA staff found can help fix some of the issues you might be having for the moment. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. I really do feel for you and know how frustrating this must be. Thank you again.

Cheryl, I have not heard about that happening before and will be asking about it. However, could you please submit a help ticket about your friends issue at hotelsupport.iwin.com. We do not have a set date yet for the 250 friends, but it is planned for the future!

Old Hippie, Thank you very much for the suggestions! For the future, the suggestion box can be found in the shop section of Hotel iWin. You simply go to any shop, and on the upper right hand side you will see a “Suggest Item” button.

Jeannie, I’m so glad you were able to buy games. However, I have not heard of the elevator getting stuck issue. I’ll ask around on that one and see if that’s anything that’s been reported before.

Ano, All the way from Kenya, how exciting! It’s great to have such a distant traveler in Hotel iWin!

Sheila, I can not do support in the blog, I’m sorry. If you can’t play your games you’ll need to submit a help ticket at hotelsupport.iwin.com please.

Hi everybody. This is my start of the week, after being away last week- I’m home! Yeah!! So happy week everyone! Anne I just sent in the two screenshots I had. The first is the one I got & sent in in the beginning. Sorry, I sent it to the wrong portal. But I still had the copy & I did the other shot today. I did get a letter from iWin saying that certain games were not getting the opals. My games were not listed. I bought “Peggle Nights” last night & it doesn’t give. Love the game though. I did have a few hours yesterday- so- YEAH!!! __Hey Judith Anne. I really wonder if you’re on my friends list. Would love it if you were! Thanks Anne, Bess

    Hey Anne..

After all my hopes yesterday of FINALLY getting a resolution…it is completely dashed today…NO DOUBT about it…I am NOT winning opals..today IWIN has stopped me at 5pm….earlier than usual…I was playing a game for over hrs. and DID NOT get the right amount of opals..I OWN the game, so it should be double opals…I wonder if it will ever get fixed…

I DO WISH YOU HAD told us that IWIN Hotel had it’s own problem solving page…??? It was not posted anywhere…and it should have been…I read that Bess did the same thing I did..sent it to the wrong portal..because NO ONE TOLD US OTHERWISE….yeap, my frustrations are popping out today…Deep breathsssssssss…Ahhhhhhhhhh…it is only a game, and not worth me getting aggraviated over such a trivial thing…

Hey Bess…I was wondering the same thing..if you were in my group of friends…I am JAM174…;-)

    Well, I have always believed in venting…and that I did…so I feel better….;-)

Anne, I hope the day was a good one for you..I am sure you are bombarded with all kinds of problems, too….Deep breaths seem to help…

what does it mean when it says “lifetime opals”. When you place the cursor on a person’s floor, this info shows. I see that the amount of lifetime opals increase. I just need to know what this means. I am earning my opals pretty good, I like the Hotel iWin and truly stuck on Jewel Quest 2. Thank you.

    Hello Anne,

Well, glad to hear that some of us go a prolem solved…I am sure the issues that brings in money would be first to get fixed…only reazonable….Hopefully, the issue of NOT winning opals will take it’s place in priority….Without opals, I cannot participate in Hotel IWIN…so then the FUN is gone…I have lost more opals that I care to mention…I just lost another 2 hrs worth of opals…when, after playing for 2 hour the good ole’ play longer to win oapls pops up!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…..I have to admit, I am getting pretty annoyed!!!!!…Since I spent most of my opals, I really get totally IRATTED that I am NOT awarded in opals when deserved!!!!!!….Come on Anne, it cannot be that hard, with all the super brainy staffers onboard at IWIN…I swear it has to do with the way IWIN keeps track of the time spent online…I am at a total lost as to how it is figured out…Since I sign off and on…so many times…how do they tract that…I may play at 8am…for a while…then NOT get back on again until 12 noon…to play a bit…so are they counting that as 4 hrs??? even though i have NOT spent 4 hours on line…????

Well, I am not earning opals, so I will find something else to amuse me…

    Enjoy the evening..

Hi Anne, I hope your week hasn’t been as bad as last. Bet you can’t wait till quitting time, grin. As far as the winning opal, I have to say DITTO to Judith Anne- My opals did start coming in BUT I am not able to get any of the concierges to let me win opals until late at night, all the different names still say he has won 25. I stayed up last night, against my better judgement, and this was confirmed. This was the second night night to get opals. I was very lucky to get half of what iWin says is allowed. Could there be a problem with the way the opals are issued? If I am looking at mine right I am getting one a minute. Which would explain alot. Not that that makes me feel better since that was one reason for purchasing. So now I’m three weeks into this and just as upset as in the beginning, no more so. I am trying so hard to be patient Anne but this really is getting me. This is going from frustration to anger! Sorry, I know it’s not your fault but you know where we are coming from. That is alot of opals. Or furnishings. I want my animals. Ya Know?? On my way to the ticket dept, grumble grumble. Hope you have a nice weekend, get rest. We’ll be waiting for you…. Thanks Anne,… Bess

Happy Friday Anne….Whewwwwwwww!!! I am sure you thought Friday would NEVER get here!!!…;-)

I am in TOTAL agreement with Bess…(hang in there,Bess-I dounderstand where you are coming from). If Iread these blogs correctly, Bess purchases the games, as I do…SOooooooooo, we are entitles to DOUBLE opals…so it should be 2 a minute…that we SHOULD earn..and are NOT able to get that accomplished due to IWIN’s cutting off our playing time…I DO NOT want to spend my nights up playing IWIN…I want my days and evenings to count!!! So how do I get this done???…I play IWIN a couple of nights when I could NOT sleep….sooooooooo, that is how I know…I can win my double opals during that time…I usually get cut off by 6 or 7pm…If I am having a REALLY REALLY lucky day, I can play until 8:30pm…ALso, I NEVER ever play more than 12 hrs…Even when I play during day & evening hours, I am on and off the computer…We do have to eat…smiling…and I have errands to run, a house to clean, plus the millions of little chores that I stop to do during my day…So I am never online for a huge amount of time…LIKE 12 HRS!!!!!…so I am in a total quandary as to figure out how IWIN decides the time span in which I am able to obtain opals…Like Bess, I have lost out on a large amount of opals..so I am unable to purcahse all the things I would like…to funish my floors..No opals…bare rooms!! pretty simple to understand…I do NOT understnd how some people have acquired their HUGE stockpile of opals..when I am struggling to get a couple hundred a day…

So to make a long story …short…I am very very annoyed at this point…because I DO NOT see any improvement…I have been very patient…wellllllllllllll, maybe I take that back a bit…I have bombarded your Cus Serv with lots of tickets…complaints…Funny, though…I VERY RARELY ever hear back from them!!! Why is that, Anne…It is only common curtesy that I should actually get a true response…a REAL sentence or two..written from a real live person..Like so many have written to you…they, along with myself, feel the responses are prewritten ….maybe they are read..maybe not!!!…Itseems like the computer immediately forwards an preset answer, right after I send in a complaint…as I have said, I do NOT usually ever hear back about any results..or what steps are being taken..to fix the problem…!!!..You were quick to fix the money problem…but seem very slow on finding the fix for the opals…If I sound angry, that is because I AM!!!….and let me tell you, Anne..I do NOT lose my temper easily…but this situation never seems to get better…Yesterday alone..I lost out on over 300 opals…I played Liong…and instead of quitting the game 15 mins or so..to see if I am getting opals..I just played away..and by george, I got that darn screen…play longer to win opals…HOW MUCH LONGER am I suppose to play, pray tell???…I hate that I have to keep quitting a game…to check to make sure I am getting opals..it does take some FUN out of it…OK…enough…with the rambling…I am starting to repeat myself…;-)

Please Anne…..hear our cries for help!!!….and please get this problem fixed…maybe you just need to take off, all the time restraints…and let people play whenever and how ever long they wish…I do not think other siteshave time restraints..most want you to hang around, so you can see all the ads that flash on by…and be tempted to spend more money…;-)

I am exhausted…anger and negativity take lots of energy..I would much rather put that energy to good use..doing positive things…I do love having that virtual dollhouse to play with…Hotel IWIN reminds me of a dollhouse..where I can decorate how ever I wish…move things around…and just have FUN…BUT not being able to earn opals…plus losing out on a large amount of opals…overshadows the enjoyment of it all…

Please help Anne…find the answer for us..

Thanks for listening….and I hope you have a pleasant weekend in store…

    Hi Anne..

I was thinking about what one of your customer’s requests…for a blog and forum….where people with the same kind of problems can write down their thoughts ideas or suggestions…it could be for each game…or each issue…has a great forum setup…and with so many people, who have different levels of skills, can help each other out…It really is a great tool to get help…I used blogs threads and forums, often….It helps people to vent…harmlessly…and it gives people comfort knowing there are others in the same boat as them…No matter what I needed help with, there was always someone who could lead you in the right direction, or just solve the problem..then and there….

I think you could use such a creative tool….here at Hotel IWIN..It keeps people happy…instead of bringing their anger to a boil, and then…leaving for greener pastures…with their money in hand…

    Any way…just thinking…;-)

    Have a good weekend, Anne..

I think I may have found out what’s happening with a few of you and Opals! You’ll have to forgive me for not knowing this sooner, but I’m still learning at this point! However, if what I found is the issue, it’s not a bug at all!

One of the things Judith Ann kept talking about was how she couldn’t earn Opals after 6pm. She would play from 11am and stop at 6pm since she could no longer earn Opals. Well, this had me thinking there was something wrong with the server during peak traffic times. QA was trying things out, seeing what they could find, but weren’t able to reproduce the bug. They were asking for screen shots, and I was trying to collect all the information I could.

Well, I stopped and talked with one of the programmers today. Since it was his code, he knows exactly how the whole thing works! There is a 720 total Opals cap for every 24 hours. That means if you own the game, and you’ve played 6 hours you’ve reached your limit. This seems to be where the confusion is coming from! The 12 hour cap is if you don’t own the games, however the limit of Opals per day is the same. You just earn the Opals faster.

The programmer and I also talked about how there is not a hard capped re-set time on Opals. The Opal cap does not re-set at midnight or at any set time. It’s simply from the first time you closed your game that day. So, if you closed your game at 6pm on your first day of playing, 6pm is now your soft reset time for the next day. You can only earn 720 opals in a 24 hour period, that time period is up to you, whenever you play games.

I do hope this is the “problem” and that with this knowledge we solve the Opals issue. Please keep me updated and let me know!

Bess, Thank you very much for the screen shots, I really do appreciate all the help! We do have a list posted of games that do not give opals here. Just incase you need to check it in the future! I’m so sorry that this has caused you so much trouble. You’ve been so very kind and helpful, so thank you for sticking with us! I’m hoping the “Opals Bug” is now solved!

Judith Ann, If you click on the “Help Desk” when you go to the Hotel, you’ll find the Hotel Support page. I’m truly sorry for all the frustration this has caused you. I do assure you I’ve been rattling cages about the “Opals Bug” all week! And I truly hope I’ve found the answer now! And, I’m excited to say that we have forums in the works!

Karan, Lifetime Opals means how many opals you’ve earned total. If you never had spent a single Opal, its how many you would have total.

Hello Anne, Thank you so very much for explaining about the opals & buying the game versus not. Now I know that buying a game doesn’t get me extra, so I think I’ll do like alot of others & keep my money. I can play for free & get the same amount of opals. That’s cool to me. Less time here means I can go somewhere else too. Thanks again

    Good Evening Anne..

Thanks so much for all the info…it really helps to know that you are “hearing” us…;-) I have a question…WHY is there a cap on the opals earned in a day…720 is NOT alot of opals…considering the high price tag on lots of items for sale at Hotel IWIN…trying to get 5000 opals to buy ONE THING will take 7 days…and considering that you have many many items that are pricy…it would seem to me, that a higher cap should be set…say at least a 1000 a day…As the the ones who purchase games…Are you saying that there really isn’t any point to us buying them…NO extra reward…except that we earn opals faster in a day…I thought y’all, at IWIN, wanted us to purchase games…??? which is why you have the special pricing in effect…I have the platinum where I only pay 6.99 a game..I thought those prices were an incentive..to stay and buy games…It seems like people will leave…to go to other sites..I do NOT think that is what your team intended…is it???

I am thrilled that a blog/forum is in the works…that is wonderful…I realize you are all trying…to get the job done…it is a thankless job at times…Anyone that deals with the public, feels that way …at any given time…Bless your heart…you DO need patience…lots of it…I think having a place…that all of us can go…and pick the thread that suits us…will be great in venting frustration…I know…Bess helps me…alot…she understands why I get frustrated…and has a way to soothe and smooth things over…She is a terrific gal…!!!…heart of gold….l-) Hi Bess….have a great weekend…

OK..I am done rambling…sorry about that bad habit of mine….rambling…but I just cannot seem to make a long story short!!!…Have a fabulous weekend Anne…enjoy playing the games…I LOVE all the Mystery Case Files games… they are fantastic …I loved…Escape The Museum..SafeCracker…is a great great game…very very challanging…large file game..

Well, time to head to bed…for my beauty sleep…but first I will read for a while…reading is my first love…there is nothing like a good book…

    See ya Monday…

Anne, thank you for explaining one of the reasons players stop earning opals in a 24 hour period. BUT….I have to agree with Judith Ann regarding the 24 hr opal cap of 720 when many hotel items are priced in the multi-1000′s.

I am going to make some broad assumptions; please correct me if I’m wrong. The total amount of opals a player can earn in a 24 hour period is 720 but this is strictly for game play. Anyone can earn extra opals if they purchase games, add friends in the hotel, subscribe to the newsletter, or converse with other hotel occupants. Yes or No?

If my above assumption is correct, it would imply only people with lots of disposable income can earn over 720 opals a day by purchasing lots of games or have nothing but time to spend on the computer “friending” iWin hotel occupants, etc. Now, I understand iWin is a business and in the business to make money, but a lot of us don’t have the kind of cash to purchase let’s say 1 game per day just to earn extra opals to furnish an imaginary hotel room. In addition, devoting 6 or 12 hours of game play per a 24 hour period is a good chunk of time taking away from the other activities we embark on in our daily lives, family, jobs, pets, socializing. Isn’t one of the great concerns facing the US, child obesity, due to lack of physical activity caused by TV watching, game console/computer playing, and the consumption of fast food? Yes, it’s up to us to balance our lives & our children’s and not put blame on the diversion but ourselves. What I am asking for as a cash and time-strapped person is either a reduction in opal price of hotel items or an increase in opportunities to earn opals in a reasonable amount of time? The hotel is a fantastic idea and as you can see is a resounding success. Just make it a bit more accessible to a broader audience. JMHO

    Sunny Saterdays to you….

I have been thinking about the time limits…and I am NOT a believer…First of all, It is NOT matter what time I signed on to IWIN, I got the infamous “player longer to win opals”…I didn’t reach the 12 hrs limit…nor win 720 opals…I do NOT think it is fair….What if….I logged on…at say…7am…to play 3o minutes or so, til I leave for work…I don’t come home until 6pm…so that means, even though, I have NOT been online for more than 1 hour…sooooooooo, you are telling me..that I will NOT be able to play thru out the evening because of signing on at 7am…!!! Certainly does not seem fair at all…Also wha about those of us..that sign off and on during the am and pm…all the time off line…counts against us..even though we have NOT played for the whole 12 hours…??? Do you see where I am coming from, Anne..I am NOT the best with words, so I hope I am getting my point across…so in other words…once I log on…I need to stay on..until I hit my quota..either with opals or hours…??? Hmmmmm….does NOT seem like a relaxing way to me…I like to log on…when I feel like it…or have the time…not because I picture a CLOCK just ticking away the minutes…I do believe that your way of doing this..is NOT fair at all…especially to those of us that work..ALSO, as one customer, client or consumer wrote.. ( not sure what you call your users)…in the above blog..some people who are ill, get on…to relax…to play a game or two…to take their mind off what ails them…I for one…am one of those!!!! She is right, I do NOT need the added frustration of something that does NOT work smoothly and properly…I have to admit, I have got my dander UP…I always stood my ground when I truly beleive in a cause..;-)

Also, another point of frustration..is your cap on Opals…the more I think about it…the more annoyed I get..Why in the world is their a cap???…because people get carried away??? You have lots of luxury items, plus lots of high prices items..and it takes alot of opals to decorate our virtual rooms..I buy the games to get the double opals..but it really does NOT make a difference, I guess…I am sure tha is NOT IWIN’s intention…You are running a business..and the profit margin usually figures in…somewhere..Yes, most of your monies come from advertising, but still, since you offer deals…to buy games, I would think it does profit y’all in some way…….keep people at your site. maybe…??

Any way…I am struggling to understand both issues…from your point of view..and as far as I can see, making your customers, consumers, or clients frustrated or annoyed is not your intention…I know you all mean well, and try to please us…the users…but some of the rules need to be changed…Please think about it, Anne…and think about it from our side…

I am loving Beth Ann’s point of views, too…We are on the same page…as well as Bess..

Thank you for listening to my concerns, complaints, and frustrations….Lending an ear always helps…Anne, Please please please…think about changing one or more of the rules…

Thank you so much for your time…You ARE appreciated….lots…

Bottom line here, iWin created the monster–the hotel. Users have become so enamored with the beast that they play longer, buy more games and subscribe to an iCoin plan just to get opals to feed the monster. I know, because that’s exactly what I did. As a user, I am not asking for the whole enchilada all at one time. IT IS much more fun and satisfying to
work towards something than to have it dropped in my lap. All I am and others here are asking for is a fighting chance at a modicum of success without emptying our wallets or spending the majority of our waking time here or getting
frustrated we have met our daily quota of opals and just stop playing all together because the bar is set too high. It’s not
just playing the games anymore, iWin changed that with the hotel.

Hi Anne, Sorry you are having such a hard time, but I don’t beleive anyone said it would be easy. Seems you have walked into a lions den here and you may need some help. I am upset FOR YOU because you litterally had to chase someone down to get the information that is being fired back at you. Who can we contact? How can we make a stand? Do YOU understand our feelings? We need to have someone there, at the hotel, that we can complain to! Someone that can stand up for us, the bill payers! You can only do one job. I am thinking the complaint department would be a job in itself. From this page alone anyone can see there are BIG PROBLEMS, and it is going to cost iWin BIG MONEY. There is another problem I have been thinking of that MaryBeth touched on, I would like to ask you. Are we supposed to get opals for buying a game? My understanding was that we were. I have bought games and not gotten them. Is this another of MY misunderstandings? If someone does take the job of helping us– I think the first thing that should be done is to get rid of the DOUBLE TALK in the rules. One set of rules for you and one for us. One set should do it with no small writing. Thank you. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Well, I’m checking in with you guys on a Saturday, because I care! I ran around pestering anyone I could find about the “Opals bug” for the last two weeks. I was fighting for you guys, talking to QA, talking to CS, talking to a host of programmers. We thought that the shopping cart bug might have fixed the Opals bug, but unfortunately it did not. So, I was still asking around, trying to test things, following up on some things suggested by you guys. Our first solution was making sure to re-open a game after the first time it was downloaded, and I let you guys know about that right away! I continued asking for as much information as I could; trying desperately to find a lead for the “Opals bug” because of the frustration it caused the community.

Needless to say I feel a little silly having caused that much ruckus my very first two weeks over something that wasn’t even a bug. It just took someone explaining it to me! Haha
I’m a little worried that made me look bad, but you know what? That’s my job, to voice the concerns of the community! And I am glad to do it if it means that you guys are happy, playing, and earning Opals.

I will again bring these concerns you have to the table. It is not my decision alone to make, but I will be your voice and make sure these thoughts and ideas are heard.

Judith Ann, Thank you for the long and detailed reply. I had to go on and remove the parts about our competitor from the blog though. I apologize for having to edit it, but we can’t give our competition free advertising. I hope you can understand that from our business side.

To everyone else, I hear you and understand where you’re coming from.

The incentive was so that if you bought the game you could gain double the Opals while you played. This would allow you to play 6 hours a day and reach the cap. We are amazed to see how many of you would play 12 hours a day, so if you bought the game you could reach the cap in a shorter amount of time. And I can still see how this is an incentive to purchase a game. I know I wouldn’t have the time to play 12 hours in one day myself!

I will be asking around and clarifying all the other questions you’ve asked me next week, and will get back to you with what I can find.

    Keep your heads up!

    Anne,

I hope iWin appreciates the excellent employee they hired in you. Essentially, your first week was a baptism by fire and you’ve gone above and beyond to understand your employer’s policies & operations while placating a disgruntled mob of users wrestling with technical problems and a disagreement with the administration of a beta project called iWin Hotel. The fact you are checking in on your day off to touch base with users proves you are a true professional. Your dedication tells us someone cares. Thank you! I vote you get a raise immediately or preferred stock options.

The executive PR branch of iWin should visit the blogs and take a random sampling of hotel trouble tickets and see what their users are saying and what they’re experiencing. Nothing is ever perfect and not everyone will be happy with everything all the time; it’s impossible. But there must be a middle ground where the outcome can be a win-win or should I say iWin-iWin situation for the company and the user. (OK…I hear groans at my lousy pun.)

    ….’til Monday….

First & foremost I need tosay the concept for Maddie’s Daily Mystery & iWin Hotel are very similar. You play to get things to decorate your rooms. I don’t know the exact cause Maddie’s Daily Mystery was pulled. Maybe the response was too high & you just could’t keep up with the demand. I guess in an attempt to keep that from happening to the Hotel you had to add some strings after the start date. I don’t know if the changes were made to keep people who use cheat programs from profiting or you truely didn’t realize how great the response was going to
    be.
Either way messing with what was a great idea is going to backfire again. I am disabled & play a lot of games. Now iWin is telling me when I have to play to get the best benefits for the Hotel. Not only that but you took away any incentive to buys your games.I’ve been an iWin member for several years & usually stuck with my once a month purchase. With the advent of the Hotel I’ve been buying more games to play & earn opals. Now you have capped those earnings at a lowly 720 a day in your time frame.I don’t care that you earn that lowly amount faster if you play a paid for game.We should be allowed to accrue double the 720 if we are playing paid for games. You took away any reason I had to purchase any more games from you, I’ll just wait until I can play them for free. Why do you always tinker with a good thing?
    Thanks for listening,
    Judy

I belong to other sites, and I must say..IWIN is VERY late getting the new games…The one you put up today and yesterday..I already played and finished last year…I HOPE the HIGH UPS will start reading the blogs…listen to their users complaints, and then try to make HOTEL IWIN even better place to hang out…

Anne, you are terrific…It shows you do care about our problems…checking in on your day off…Thank YOU SO MUCH for THAT!!!!..Mary Beth has such a great idea….I HOPE that you listen to it, and can get it accomplished..I KNOW it hard to buck “the establishment” No one likes change…especially if they think their way it correct…They need to listen to the users…we are the ones…putting out the money…and so far, I am thinking it does NOT pay me to buy your games..when I can play for free…and still acquuire opals…there is NO incentive to buy games…You took it away with your cap!!!

Thank for the ear…and please listen to your users…before they take off to green pastures…

Thank for all your help…You are amazing…

This was how iWin Hotel was supposed to work.
Earning Opals and Your Hotel iWin Avatar

Hi, my name is Nathan Fahrenthold and I am the Senior Producer for Hotel iWin. Our launch has been a huge success and it is very exciting to see the thousands of new rooms and avatars being created every day.

I have been checking in with our crack team in Customer Support (you know, the folks who answer the support tickets) and wanted to use this space to talk about a couple questions I see a lot.

How the heck do I earn more Opals?

The easiest way to earn Opals is to play iWin games. We award one Opal per minute you play. If you own the game you get two Opals per minute. Buying the game is great way to avoid the ads and earn double the currency.

We also have many other ways to earn Opals including:

Sign up for iCoins = 1,000(!) Opals (that’s like playing a whole week of games)
Sign up for the iWin newsletter = 500 Opals
Post a message on someone’s Message Wall = 5 Opals (you can get 25 Opals a day max)
Write a game review (again, 25 Opals max per day)
We will be adding new ways to easily earn Opals in the future so check the blog.
This was posted on Feb. 23 & was the reason I started acquiring opals. As you know by now not only are there NO new ways to easily earn Opals but they put restrictions on the old ways we could earn them. Nothing was said about a 720 opal limit per day nor the complicated way iWin was going to use to set the time limit. No way we as players can figure it out as we had no idea how it was being done until after the fact. It will now take forever to furnish a new room.
By the way I would love to know how one of your employees amassed over 330,000 opals.
    More frustrated each day,
    JudyC.

    Anne,

ARE you saying that if we post more the one blog, we are spamming…when in fact, all we are doing is venting frustration!!! What is up with the threat of spamming!! that is totally uncalled for..You are saying you do not want us to tell you about our concerns or problems…??? I thought that was one part of your many jobs…to keep the masses happy…I have stayed with this site, because I do enjoy it…or use to enjoy it…

The fact that we keep about the SAME probem…means..
    1…You are NOT solving it..
2…you are NOT listening to how upset some of us are…but instead of fixing the problem…you dance around it…
3..Your customers are NOT important..just hush them up..any way you can..if you cant hush them//then just remove the ones that irritate you…NOT COOL!!!

I thought the idea of a blog/thread was to talk about issues…about what concerns us…what makes up happy…what does not..I did NOT realize we had a LIMIT on our blogs as well as on OPALS…!!! Ooooooooohh…maybe you really DONT want us to blog about the shortcomings we are finding…that too…is NOT going to stop it…The voices are getting LOUDER, as we amass more and more people with frustrations..Please Hear US…and help…be part of the solution!!..

After reading this blog and discovering the 720 opals cap and the weird time frame of when you log on and how that counts against you instead of using the actual accumulated game-playing time and with free or trial games now unable to open (all I get is a blank white screen but if I purchase the game, it works fine) and no way to be a loyal iWin member to earn more points for the hotel items, I’m trying to find the incentive here to remain on the iWin site or game manager. I’m not trying to promote your competition – for all I know, they have even crazier problems – but the “glue” that holds us here at iWin seems to be coming apart. Things don’t work right and we have hotel items that cost a lot dangled in front of us then are denied the opportunity to earn the opals to get them… I’m not angry and this is not an angry post. Maybe a disappointed post, is all. What a shame. I was really starting to like iWin.

Is anything being done to simplify the time frame for earning opals? Why can’t you just use midnight to midnight & keep the 4 hour limit if you have to? Even the dimmest of us come keep track this way. We can then choose if we want to play & not earn tokens. Or maybe not being able to choose is the reason for the way it is being done now.
    Thank you,

I only started using iWin about 5 months ago – I have my subscription with another (nameless) site but I do buy a game most months from iWins Steals and Deals section (wonderful idea by the way, especially with all the 50% sales!). I love the hotel and was seriously considering taking out a second monthly subscription with iWin to get more games until I read this blog. I personally have had few problems with my opals – I always play in the evening and have almost always been credited. I was not happy to learn of the daily limit being no different for game owners – as others have said, some items are seriously expensive and I can’t understand how some people have as many lifetime opals as they appear to have with this limit and how long the hotel has been open. We either need cheaper items or ways to earn more opals – does anyone actually spend 12 hours a day playing games? Although I can rack up 6 hours on a good day, lol. From what I have read, iWin does not seem to be taking the concerns of its (paying) customers seriously and I am glad I have not taken out a subscription. I also have an issue with the games manager slowing down play in time management games (I have an old computer) so I can’t buy any of those which are my favourites. I know I can play without it but then I wouldn’t get my opals! I truly feel for those posting here who have serious problems and are not getting a proper response from iWin.

    Hi iWin / Anne,
Simple really: Stop the time limit or change it to midday/midnight. As it stands, it just penalises the customer. Make it count for those who have purchased any games by atleast doubling opals no matter how long you play. Provide more opportunitys to win OPALS eg: accruing OPALS while logged into to Hotel iWin.
And I’d also like to know how some have accrued so many OPALS in such a short time…Good on them for having the OPALS but how was it possible?
    Cheers Isaboe-Coo

I love my avatar. The opal winning is fast. I enjoy earning them

I have read all the comments made here and some make sense, and some don’t. I do not understand the caps and time limits either and can’t even figure out why there is a time limit anyway or a maximum opal limit considering, as most of you have said, how expensive the items are and how long it takes to get anything. I want a refrigerator and at 5,000 opals, and the time limits . . . well, you do the math.

But the one thing that really confuses me is the discussion of earning opals for games, and double opals for purchased games. I am assuming that this point is based on the fact that you can earn 60 opals per hour for free games, which is the only alternative to purchased games.
I have never earned a single opal for playing a free game as far as I know. The curious thing is that nobody is complaining how badly the free games work. I have yet to be able to play a free game from start to finish without the ads shutting down the game, crashing my computer, and that’s assuming they even launch. There are ones who go straight to the window where it asks if you wnat to buy it, and some just don’t launch at all. Either way, doesn’t matter how long I play whatever game, I never get a window saying that I had earned any opals. I can’t believe I am the only one having trouble launching and playing free games because of the ad servers crashing the games. Anne if you are bothering reading this, I am wondering why nobody is addressing this issue. I have purchased many games to avoid the free game ad server problems and I have submitted multiple tickets to ask for help and I’ve gotten nothing from anybody. And as I said in another blog, my computer guru said the conflict between your ad servers and the game software is a relatively simple programming problem that is easily fixed. So why aren’t you fixing it?

Based on your discussions and solutions and the blogs here, I should be able to play free games and earn 60 opals per hour. Since I can do neither, I don’t see the point of playing anything anyway. And considering just how prolific your users are venting about the plethora of problems on every level of iWin operations, and considering just how many are unhappy to the point of leaving iWin and/or cancelling their subscription, don’t you get that it is counter-productive to brush problems under the rug with criticisms on peoples’ negativity and/or multi-blogging, which again, just upsets everybody in the first place. I am beginning to believe that your customer base isn’t anywhere near as big as it was or at least nobody is staying for long once they run into problems. You can count me among those who is, unless some significant changes are made, very likely to say goodbye as soon as my commitment of games to purchase is up. The hotel is a great and enjoyable side-premium of iWin, but it is just not worth it.

How can I post to the forums. All my iWin friends tell me about a pm button to the right of the forums. I don’t have one. I sent tickets in for over a month and to no avail. Can you please advise me?

Ok I would like to ask why your support department has never had a solution to any tickets other than “we are aware of this problem and are hoping to soon have this fixed – thanks for your patience blah, blah, blah.” I have gotten this answer to 5 tickets over a 3 yr time span. And to this day none of the problems have been resolved. And while I currently am not and icoins member – I have been several times in the past. And yet this amounts to no consideration – I am treated like a ” freerider” only. These problems along with todays stripping my rating points from 1500+ to a 1200 for no reason – I wasnt even on this site today – has made me not want to become a member again or pay money to any establishment that operates in this manner. It is a shame because Wordscape Online Party is a excellent word game – and if handled better would be a very marketable product. Plz get it together people – its ridiculous. Much smaller sites are being run effeciently.
